David Umahi: Betraying Tinubu Is Like Betraying God

Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, said his loyalty is first to God and then to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, warning that betraying the president would be like betraying God.
Speaking to journalists in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Umahi responded to President Tinubu’s recent public commendation of his performance, especially in infrastructure development.
The minister said the commendation meant more to him than material wealth.
“To me, that commendation is worth more than one trillion dollars,” Umahi said. “It shows I am on the right path and that God answers prayers.”
Reaffirming his commitment to President Tinubu, Umahi stated: “I have told the president even publicly that my loyalty is to God first and then, him.”
He noted the trust the president has placed in him is sacred and should never be taken for granted.
“When a man gives you the type of trust Tinubu has given me, you will be of the devil to betray him,” he said.
Umahi warned that betraying Tinubu after such trust would attract divine consequences.
“Have you seen where a man presided over the procurement of a project worth N1.6 trillion and his boss did not call him to ask how he went about it?” Umahi asked rhetorically. “I am talking about one section of the project depending on the length.”
He said: “I pray every day that if I place myself, family and friends over God, Tinubu and Nigerians, let Him not answer me.”
He also dedicated the president’s praise to his supporters, saying: “I also dedicate the president’s commendation to all those who pray for me to succeed in serving the people.”
Looking ahead, Umahi said the president’s recognition has motivated contractors handling federal projects.
“This means that contractors would be on their toes to complete about 30 mega projects which the president will inaugurate by Dec. 20,” he said.
According to Umahi, the projects are being executed across all six geo-political zones of the country, and he remains involved in their supervision.
