Court Detains VeryDarkman in EFCC Custody Over Alleged Cybercrime

Controversial social media figure Verydarkman (VDM) has been taken into custody by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following a court order.
This is to facilitate the ongoing investigation into alleged cybercrime activities.
According to The Guardian Nigeria, the order was issued to give investigators time to finish their inquiries and prepare formal charges under Nigeria’s Cybercrimes Act.
VDM was arrested last Friday by a team that included EFCC agents, Department of State Services (DSS) personnel, and Nigeria Police Force members.
Witnesses reported that he was detained right after leaving a bank in the Wuse area of Abuja.
An EFCC official, who wished to remain anonymous, stated, “The remand order was granted to allow us to complete our investigation and finalise the charges. He would be arraigned once we conclude that process, and the charges are expected to be substantial.”
As of Monday morning, VDM is still in EFCC custody. His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed they are trying to access him and are exploring all legal options.
