CDCFIB Debunks Fake Recruitment Letter, Vows Public Announcement

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has discredited a fake recruitment letter making the rounds on social media, warning the public to be on high alert against scammers spreading misinformation.

In a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja, the Secretary to the Board, Maj.-Gen. A.M. Jibril (Rtd), said the fake letter falsely claims to offer details about an ongoing recruitment process into Nigeria’s paramilitary services.

He clarified that although President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had given the green light for the recruitment of 30,150 personnel into the paramilitary agencies and another 209 into the CDCFIB Secretariat, the official recruitment process had not started.

Jibril explained that the Board is still working on obtaining a waiver to shorten the mandatory six-week public notice period to three weeks so that it can begin placing adverts in national newspapers.

“For the avoidance of doubt, any official recruitment exercise by the Board will be duly advertised in credible national newspapers, and the process will be fair, transparent, and completely free of charge,” he stated.

According to the breakdown of the approved recruitment, 5,150 personnel will be recruited into the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), 10,000 into the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), 10,000 into the Federal Fire Service (FFS), 5,000 into the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and 209 into the CDCFIB Secretariat.

The Board cautioned job seekers not to fall prey to fraudsters who take advantage of people’s desperation to peddle false promises and extort money.

“Members of the public should be extremely cautious and report any suspicious offers or individuals requesting payment in exchange for employment,” the statement added.

The CDCFIB also reaffirmed its commitment to conducting all recruitments based on merit, equity, and due process.
