Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Burna Boy has found himself at the center of online banter following his appearance at the 2025 Met Gala.

Held on Monday, May 6th, at the iconic Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, this year’s Met Gala embraced the theme Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” celebrating the influence of Black men in fashion.

Making his second appearance at the prestigious event, Burna Boy stepped out in a striking red tuxedo paired with an oxblood eelskin cape, an ensemble styled by renowned designer Ozwald Boateng—recognized as the first Black tailor to own a storefront on Savile Row.

Despite the significance of the look, reactions online were mixed. While some praised the outfit’s boldness and nod to heritage tailoring, others took a more humorous route. One user on X (formerly Twitter) went viral after joking that the color of Burna’s outfit reminded them of the popular antibiotic, Tetracycline, sparking a wave of memes and sarcastic comments.
