BUK Launches On-Campus Tricycle Service

Bayero University, Kano (BUK), launched an on-campus tricycle service today, Wednesday, at the university’s New Campus to improve student transportation.
Speaking at the launch, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, said, “This initiative is part of our broader effort to enhance security and convenience for our students. We are committed to making our campuses not only academically stimulating but also comfortable and safe for everyone.”
Professor Abbas stated that the tricycles would be monitored and regulated. “The service will be closely supervised, with properly trained drivers adhering to best practices. Operating hours will be from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily to ensure accessibility while maintaining order on campus,” he said.
He also encouraged students to use the service responsibly, noting that additional vehicles would be introduced over time.
The tricycles were introduced after BUK banned motorcycles in February 2025 due to security concerns.
