Biology Teacher Questions JAMB Score After Scoring 37 In Subject He’s Taught For 18 Years

- He was shocked by his low performance, especially in Biology.
- The teacher has nearly two decades of experience teaching Biology.
A Nigerian teacher who recently took the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) has expressed disbelief over his unexpectedly low performance, particularly in Biology — the subject he has taught for nearly two decades.
John Felix Obuighkem, who holds a degree in Biology, shared his reaction in a Facebook post after receiving his Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) results. Despite his confidence before the exam, he was stunned to find he had scored only 37 marks in Biology.
Obuighkem noted that he has been teaching Biology for 18 years and had full confidence in his ability to ace the subject. He urged the public to help him appeal to JAMB’s registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, requesting a review of his score.
In his emotional Facebook post, he wrote, “Please, someone should contact Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the JAMB registrar, and ask him to recheck my results. Those who know me can testify that I am not someone who would perform this poorly, especially in Biology.”
He recalled consistently scoring above 200 during his earlier attempts to gain university admission and expressed frustration that he could now score so low in a subject he both studied and has been teaching professionally.
“Back then, JAMB was more rigorous, yet I never dropped below 200. Now, in an exam that includes relatively simpler questions, including topics like grammar concord and comprehension, I can’t believe I scored just 37 in Biology,” he added.
Obuighkem concluded his plea by urging the examination board to thoroughly re-evaluate his result.

@Loveth Evans: Sir Felix is a good teacher I know him too well,he is an excellent and competent biology teacher, JAMB senior staff does not know how to use Concord in English language,it could be that such staff was selected to mark JAMB examination, i doubt their credibility,
@Kingsley Ugochukwu Azubuine: Hmmm, Felix, I had such an ugly experience in the past, when my aptitude test result of 73 over 100 was given as 37 over 100; Bros, I applied for a review, that was when my real score of 73 unfolded…., I was told, it was a machine error!,I said to them, that machine must be one of you cos computer is garbage in garbage out. Nwanne fight on.
@Samuel Nwankwo: People have started to comment without reasoning. How could someone who is a GRADUATE and has been a TEACHER of BIOLOGY for 18 years go back to sit for 2025 JAMBE (or UTME) let alone failing it? With what did he gain admission into the university from where he had graduated? He should tell his readers and friends how this confusion came to be.
@Bestman Eruba: Every CBT result should be instantly released, enough of this moribund management of Exams. I know John Felix personally and I can attest to his intelligence especially in the science field particularly in biology he would not get anything less than 70 in any exam the score is 100.
@Bestman Eruba: The Jamb man has over stayed his ideas he should be sacked. He’s incompetent.
@Princepillar Dapper: My brother John Felix use the last blood in your vein to fight for this go to abia state jamb head office lay your complain then use DHL to forward your petition to jamb headquarters Abuja they can’t deny DHL parcel.
@Okon Solomon: Is JAMB no longer objectives and subjectives!? Reading wider is very different from reading based on curriculum; you only read to summarize and only used that for 18yrs. You didn’t cover any biology text while teaching. Teaching and studying are two different things. And, it’s very possible to fumble in any area of your profession if you didn’t prepare well.
@dutchmanimagereservoir: I love the fact that more professionals in different Subjects areas wrote this exam it gives a room for “evaluation” A program that lacks evaluation we not yield better results. A parent whose child was deprived and marked down and that is sure of the preparedness and that such a child did not make mistake during the exam can sue Jamb to help the organization to buckle up. CBT EXAMINATION ought to be released within a shortest interval.
