- Ayinla Kollington responded to claims made by King Wasiu Ayinde (K1) regarding a lack of condolences after K1’s mother’s death.
- K1 expressed disappointment, stating he had supported Kollington during the passing of his own mother.
- The exchange highlights tensions between the two musicians over mutual support during personal losses.
Veteran Fuji musician Ayinla Kollington has addressed the claims made by King Wasiu Ayinde, also known as K1, who alleged that Kollington did not offer condolences after the death of his mother. Kwam1 had earlier pointed out that he supported Kollington during the passing of his own mother, and was disappointed that the gesture was not returned.
In a recent interview with Agbaletu TV, Kollington strongly refuted the accusations, stating that he had made multiple efforts to reach K1 by phone, but his calls went unanswered and unreturned.
The Fuji icon also expressed his thoughts on K1’s recent title of “Olori Omoba,” implying that it had contributed to his growing arrogance. Kollington further emphasized his position in the Fuji music scene, declaring that K1 would need to outshine him before claiming the crown of the genre.
He said: “When Wasiu Ayinde’s mum died, I called him severally. He didn’t pick up, nor did he return the calls. Even on New Year’s Day, I called, and he didn’t pick up. I was like, what’s wrong with this boy? So, I let him be. He can’t tell me he was busy. What was he busy doing? If it is because he was crowned the ‘Olori omoba’, that position is for his family at Ijebu, not for me. Does he want to become God? I am the leader of all the Fuji singers. He can never be the leader when I am still alive. For me to have survived the sickness that happened to me recently, it is only God that can kpai me”.
