Abdul DanBature, the self-acclaimed president of the Arewa Youths, has joined growing calls for the release of controversial online activist, VeryDarkMan.

This show of support comes just weeks after DanBature publicly issued an ultimatum demanding that VeryDarkMan apologize to the Sultan of Sokoto over comments the activist made. At the time, DanBature threatened consequences if the apology wasn’t delivered within a set timeframe.

However, following VeryDarkMan’s recent arrest—allegedly by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)—DanBature has taken a different tone. In a statement, he emphasized the importance of unity among Nigerian youth, regardless of past differences, and urged authorities to release the outspoken activist.

His shift in stance has sparked conversations online, with many praising the call for unity, while others point out the apparent contradiction in his position.
