Anambra 2025: I’m not afraid of incumbency factor – Muoghalu

The Labour Party candidate for November 8, Anambra governorship election, Dr George Moghalu, says he is not afraid of incumbency factor in the election.
Muoghalu stated this in an interview with the newsmen on Sunday in Abuja.
“The election will be determined by the people and the will of God, not the party or incumbency factor.
He said, “People with incumbency power had been defeated before and many times over, So, what is the big deal? It is about the people.
“It is also about us going to market ourselves to the people. It is about the people assessing our antecedents.
“It is about the people looking at the promises we have made, whether we can be dependent on and they can deduce this from our antecedents.
“It is about the people and the will of God concerning each and everyone of us. One person at any given time will be the governor of the state.”
According to him, power belongs to God and the people, adding that God gives it to whosoever He wishes.
The immediate past Managing Director of National Inland Waterways Authority, who expressed the confidence that LP had high chances of winning the governorship race, said he was ready and prepared for the election.
“I am fully prepared. I have not been more prepared than now,’’ he said.
On how he was able to win the governorship ticket, considering the short time within which he joined Labour Party, Muoghalu attributed it to the will of God and the wishes of the people of the state.
“I give all the glory to God Almighty because I have always said that power belongs to God and He gives it to whom He pleases at His own time.
“It looks like this is my time and God’s will came to prevail. I also want to thank the delegates for having confidence in me, placing their future in my hands for guidance.
“So, for me, I give all the glory to God. There is nothing special about me. But it is the people who decided, out of their free volition, to give me the chance,’’ he said.
Asked if he would have won the All Progressives Congress governorship ticket if he had remained in the party, Muoghalu said: “I would have still contested but I am not God who sees tomorrow.’’
He commended the leadership of Labour Party, the delegates and the people of Anambra for entrusting him with the mandate to run for the governorship election, pledging that he would not disappoint them.
“Like I told them at the primary election that I would justify this confidence; that I would not let you down. Hold me to what I said. So, I’m still repeating that appeal to them.
“To the Anambra people, trust me, give me an opportunity to serve you. You will not regret it.
“Place your confidence in me; I will justify it. At the end of the day, I will come back to you to say ‘thank you’. What I will do for the state will endear me to you,’’ he assured.
