Federal Lawmaker Kabiru Rurum Sympathizes with Victims of Kano GSM Market Fire

The member representing Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure Federal Constituency, Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum (Turakin Rano), has sympathized with the victims of the recent fire outbreak at the Farm Centre GSM Market in Kano State.
The fire, which occurred on Friday during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, destroyed Dan Sulaika Plaza, including mobile phones, computers, repair tools, and other valuables.
“This is a tragic and unfortunate incident that occurred at a time when many families and business owners were away observing the Eid-el-Kabir festivities,” he stated. “I sincerely sympathize with all those who lost their shops, phones, computers, repair tools, and other valuables in the inferno.”
Rurum acknowledged the efforts of the fire service and others who responded to the incident.
“I commend the swift response of the fire service, market leadership, and other emergency responders who made efforts to contain the fire and prevent further damage. Their bravery and sacrifice should be acknowledged,” he said.
He also noted the emotional and financial impact on the victims.
“While we thank the Almighty Allah that no lives were lost, we cannot ignore the pain and trauma that come with losing one’s source of livelihood. I stand in solidarity with all affected traders and technicians during this difficult time,” he said.
Rurum called for the documentation of losses to enable relief support.
“Our markets are not just places of trade; they are lifelines for thousands of hardworking Nigerians,” he remarked. “It is important that we look into the causes of such disasters and put in place safety measures to prevent future occurrences.”
“To the affected traders—please take heart. May Allah replace your losses with something greater and reward your patience,” he added. “May Allah protect us from such calamities in the future.”
