A National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member posted to a Northern Nigerian school has voiced his frustration over the language barrier affecting his ability to teach.
In a video shared online, the corps member lamented that his students do not understand English, and he, in turn, cannot comprehend Hausa, which has made communication extremely difficult.
Speaking to a colleague in the video, he expressed how challenging it has been to carry out his duties effectively due to the lack of mutual understanding.
“I’m frustrated to be honest,” he admitted, revealing that even the school proprietor, who could assist with translation, was unavailable at the time.
