Sultan Calls for Modern Tech to Tackle Nigeria’s Insecurity

The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, called on the Nigerian government and authorities to equip security agencies with modern gadgets and technology to address the rising insecurity challenges in the country.
The Sultan made the appeal during a visit by the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Abdulkadir Audi, to his palace in Sokoto.
“As a retired military officer, I feel it deep down in my heart—the security situation in our country is critical,” the Sultan said. He added, “No society can develop in an atmosphere of insecurity. No matter how wealthy people are, they cannot enjoy their riches if there is no adequate peace in their environment.”
The Sultan urged security agencies to be proactive in safeguarding Nigeria’s territories. “Security outfits must ensure our nation is safe and secure at all times,” he said.
Dr. Ahmed Abdulkadir Audi explained that his visit to Sokoto was part of a nationwide tour to engage with various NSCDC formations. “I am here to familiarize myself with our formations, listen to their challenges, and understand their needs,” he said.
He added, “It is our tradition to visit the palace and seek parental blessings from His Eminence the Sultan before proceeding with our duties.” Dr. Audi also asked for the Sultan’s wisdom and guidance as a leader.
Acknowledging the Sultan’s role beyond ceremonial duties, Dr. Audi noted his “strategic depth, discipline, and experience” in addressing national issues.
He thanked the Sultan for his support for security agencies and called for continued collaboration to strengthen community engagement and conflict prevention across the country.
