Two Kano Federal Lawmakers Quit NNPP for APC

Two members of the House of Representatives from Kano State have officially dumped the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmakers, Kabiru Alhassan Rurum and Abdullahi Ibrahim Rogo, announced their defection on Thursday during a plenary session at the National Assembly in Abuja.
Their letters of resignation from the NNPP were read on the floor by the Speaker of the House, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas.
Also announcing his defection was Oluwole Oke, a six-term member representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in Osun State, who left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the APC.
Oke had earlier hinted at leaving the PDP, citing wide consultations with his supporters, political allies, and family members before making the decision.
The APC National Chairman and former Kano State governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, was present in the Chamber to welcome the new members.
He was accompanied by the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure, and other top APC leaders from Kano.
