APC to Break Up Soon, Ganduje, Others Set to Rejoin PDP — Sule Lamido

Former Foreign Affairs Minister and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Sule Lamido, has predicted a breakup within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), saying key figures — including the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje — may soon return to the PDP.
Lamido made the claim during the PDP congress at the Aminu Kano Triangle in Dutse, Jigawa State.
“I’m very sure that those who left the PDP will return,” Lamido said. “Even Ganduje. The APC is a party of contradictions. It can’t hold together for long. In no time, it will splinter.”
He added, “Mark my words, within six months, many of those who ran to the APC will come back. And when they do, the PDP will rise stronger and ready to reclaim power come 2027.”
Lamido accused the APC of using threats and intimidation to push PDP members to defect. He said those leaving the party were acting out of fear, not conviction.
He said Nigeria’s main problem is leadership.
“Nigeria is not lacking in blessings. What we lack is responsible leadership,” Lamido noted.
He also urged those in power to stop harassing opposition figures, warning that such actions could heighten political tensions.
The newly elected PDP chairman in Jigawa State, Honourable Ibrahim Babandi Gumel, called for unity within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
