A Nigerian student has come under fire after being accused of staging his mother’s death and posting a fake obituary to fraudulently collect money from his schoolmates.

The allegations, which surfaced on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), claim the individual, identified as Adesanya Oluwatumilara, orchestrated the deceit to raise funds under false pretenses.

According to viral posts, Oluwatumilara allegedly informed his classmates and peers that he had lost his mother, prompting many to send him financial support. It is further alleged that he misused the funds for personal enjoyment, including extravagant outings.

One user, sharing his photo alongside the allegations, wrote: “Adesanya Oluwatumilara, you are a disgrace for faking your mother’s death just to scam your coursemates of millions. You’ve also used fake scholarship claims to trick people. Don’t trust him—he lies without shame!”

Adding to the controversy, a video was shared showing the accused celebrating in a nightclub, throwing money around and dancing joyfully, further fueling public outrage.

As the story spread, many users expressed shock and disappointment in the comments, with several condemning the alleged scam and urging others to be cautious.
