A grieving Nigerian man has shared the deep pain and sense of emptiness left behind by the sudden death of his pregnant wife, who reportedly died due to a hospital’s refusal to treat her without an upfront payment of ₦500,000.

The heartbreaking incident involving the late Akinbobola Folajimi has drawn widespread outrage online, prompting the Lagos State Government to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her passing.

Speaking in an emotional interview with the BBC, the widower recounted the tragic loss, calling it a living nightmare. He revealed that they were planning to mark their 10th wedding anniversary this year with a proper wedding celebration, having only done their introduction ceremony years earlier.

We get plans to do our wedding this year, na only introduction we don do”, he lamented, clearly overwhelmed with grief.

He also disclosed that their children were not born in the hospital, which added to the shock and helplessness of losing his wife to a preventable complication.
