Idris: FG to Match Global Broadcasting Standards

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, says the Tinubu administration is focused on changes in Nigeria’s media and broadcasting industry.

Speaking at the Sixth Edition of the 2025 Ministerial Press Briefing Series at the National Press Centre in Abuja on Thursday, Idris said he had just returned from the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Conference and Workshop in Las Vegas, United States.

The event, with the theme “The Technology, The Trend, The Future,” brought together industry players to discuss new tools and trends in media and broadcasting.

He attended the event with heads of agencies under the Ministry and said he used the opportunity to discuss possible partnerships aimed at improving Nigeria’s broadcasting technology.

“I have shared these to reaffirm the commitment of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration towards the lasting transformation of Nigeria’s media landscape. It is that unwavering commitment that is equally fuelling interventions like this Ministerial Press Briefing Series, as well as our Town Hall Meetings, which we will take to every part of the country in due course,” he said.

Idris also mentioned his recent participation in the Nigerian Business Forum in Paris, France, where he met with UNESCO officials. Discussions focused on setting up a Media and Information Literacy Institute in Abuja.

“That Institute will go a long way towards strengthening Nigeria’s media environment, and supporting journalists to carry out their functions even more effectively,” he said.
