FCT Is the Heart of Nigeria, APC Must Lead – Ganduje

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has declared that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is too strategic to be governed by opposition parties.

Ganduje made this known on Thursday during a political rally at the Old Parade Ground in Abuja, where he received a group of defectors from opposition parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP).

The decampees were led by the Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu.

“The Federal Capital Territory is too important to be left in the hands of the opposition,” Ganduje stated. “This city is not just the seat of power; it’s the heart of Nigeria and the rallying point for all citizens. APC must rule here.”

The APC Chairman described the wave of defections as a vote of confidence in the party and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, especially ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“This development is a clear indication that the electorate in the FCT are happy with the APC. They believe in our leadership and are ready to vote massively for President Tinubu again in 2027,” he said.

He pointed out that President Tinubu had made deliberate efforts to include Abuja natives in his government, a move that has not gone unnoticed by residents.

Speaking on the broader impact of the defections, Ganduje said, “What we are witnessing is a testament to the achievements of our party over the years and the level of its acceptance across the FCT and Nigeria.”

Also speaking at the rally, Minister of Special Duties, Zephaniah Jisalo, who hails from the FCT, commended President Tinubu for fulfilling his campaign promises to the people of Abuja.

“Tinubu has lived up to his word. He promised to carry our people along and he is doing just that. The empowerment and inclusion of Abuja indigenes in key national positions is proof,” Jisalo told the cheering crowd at the event tagged “Abuja Unity Rally.”

Similarly, Minister of State for FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure, encouraged residents to continue supporting the APC-led government, assuring them of the administration’s commitment to improving their welfare.

“We urge you to stand by us and the APC. This administration is working tirelessly to uplift your lives and develop the FCT,” Bunkure said.

The rally attracted notable dignitaries including the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, area council chairmen, councillors, and party stalwarts from across the country.
