Retired Kano Judge, Justice Wada Umar Rano, Dies

A former judge and respected figure in Kano’s legal community, Justice Wada Umar Rano, has died at the age of 75 following a long illness.

He died today, Thursday, at a hospital in Kano.

Until his retirement, Justice Rano was widely known for his firm presence on the bench and was actively involved in several legal and public assignments.

One of his last public roles was chairing the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the case of missing children in Kano—a controversial issue that raised widespread concern during the administration of former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

He passed away in Kano and is survived by two wives, several children, and grandchildren.

His funeral will take place at 3:00 PM at his residence in Sharada Badar Link, opposite Danagundi, according to Islamic rites.
