Governor Yusuf Warns Contractors: ‘No Compromise on Quality’

The Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, upon return from Morocco, inspected ongoing construction projects before heading to the Government House.
After leaving the airport, he stopped to assess the road under construction. He said the road must be smooth, meet international standards, and have greenery on both sides.
“The road should look smooth and attain to global best practices, there should be green at both sides,” Yusuf stated.
He warned contractors against substandard work. “I trust this company, but I must stress that I don’t tolerate any compromise on quality—contractors must meet standards, regardless of how close you are to me,” Yusuf warned at the airport road roundabout.
At Lodge Road roundabout, he instructed that the center area be landscaped, with trees planted at six-meter intervals and grass in between.
“You have to grow tree at 6 meters interval and in between should be adorned with beautiful grasses towards the street lights,” he said. He also suggested installing a fountain at the roundabout.
He visited a mosque under construction and gave directives for design adjustments.
He asked the Commissioner of Works, Engr. Marwan Ahmad, to ensure implementation of the instructions.
Yusuf also gave directives for redesigning the entrance of the Government House, including the construction of an additional gate and wall.
“You should erect a wall and measure the same lengths and create another gate,” he said.
He visited the Africa House to inspect renovation work.
Yusuf’s inspection came after returning from Morocco, where he received an award.
