Easter Break: FG Declares April 18, 21 Public Holidays

The Federal Government has declared Thursday, April 18, and Monday, April 21, 2025, as public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration.
The announcement was made in a statement released by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, on Tuesday in Abuja.
According to Dr. Ajani, the two-day break is in honour of Good Friday and Easter Monday, significant days in the Christian faith.
She noted that the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, congratulated Christians across the country on the occasion and urged them to reflect on the essence of the celebration.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of embracing the virtues that Easter represents. “The sacrifice and love demonstrated by Jesus Christ, who died for the redemption of mankind, should serve as a reminder for us all to live in love and unity,” he said.
The Minister also called on Nigerians to use the holiday to pray for peace, unity, and stability in the country, stressing that these values are critical to the nation’s progress.
He further reassured citizens of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s unwavering dedication to the Renewed Hope Agenda, a vision aimed at driving national growth and sustainable development.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo encouraged Nigerians to “extend love and goodwill to their neighbours through acts of kindness and generosity.”
He concluded by wishing Christians a blissful Easter celebration and extended warm holiday greetings to all Nigerians.
