“God used my dreadlocks to save a life” -Pastor Jimmy reveals

  • Jimmy Odukoya, the senior pastor of Fountain of Life church, asserted that God instructed him not to cut his dreadlocks.
  • Jimmy, who succeeded his late father Taiwo Odukoya, made a recent sermon that has sparked online discussions.

Jimmy Odukoya, senior pastor of The Fountain of Life Church, has revealed that it was God who instructed him not to cut his dreadlocks, a decision that has stirred widespread reactions online.

In a recent sermon, Jimmy—who took over leadership from his late father, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya—explained that before assuming his pastoral role, he sought clarity from God regarding his appearance. He said that during his prayers, God clearly told him to keep his hair.

“Before I came back, one of the things I asked the Lord was whether or not I should cut my hair. And the Lord told me not to cut my hair,” he shared.

He added that even his sister, initially concerned about his look, later confirmed his divine instruction after seeking God herself.

Jimmy also recounted a powerful testimony involving a woman who traveled all the way from Zimbabwe to Nigeria just to attend a church service. The woman told him about a vision she had in 2016 while in New York, where she saw a man with long hair and a sword speaking powerful words that freed her from emotional burdens. Years later, in 2025, she stumbled upon a sermon of Jimmy on YouTube—and immediately recognized him as the man from her vision.

“She screamed when she saw me preaching online,” he said. “She had no idea I even existed back when she had the vision.”

What struck Jimmy the most was that in 2016, when the woman had the vision, he didn’t yet have long hair—emphasizing that God had planned it long before he even knew his pastoral journey would begin.

“The God who sees, hears and knows, knew at some point in February 2025, one of His children will have to see a man preaching. Guess what? If He did not ask me to keep my hair, I would have cut it,” he said.

According to Jimmy, this is why he believes his dreadlocks are part of a divine assignment—to help save lives and deliver messages, just as that one encounter did.
