Female Student, Boyfriend Attack Lecturer Over Course Change Denial

Kano State Polytechnic was rocked by violence on Tuesday, January 14th, when a lecturer, Aliyu Hamza Abdullahi, was attacked in his office.
The incident, confirmed by Public Relations Officer Auwalu Ismail Bagwai, stemmed from a student’s dissatisfaction with her academic placement.
“The female student, accompanied by her boyfriend, entered the lecturer’s office, identifying him as an obstacle to her desired course change,” Bagwai stated.
The student’s grades did not meet the requirements for her preferred department, leading to frustration. Her boyfriend, acting on her behalf, allegedly produced a cutlass and attempted to attack the lecturer.
Lecturer Abdullahi sustained injuries while defending himself. The intervention of other students forced the assailants to flee.
Following the attack, security officers visited the student’s residence in Dorayi. However, upon their arrival, the student fled into her house, and a group of armed thugs emerged, assaulting the security personnel.
“Security agencies are actively investigating the case, and the injured staff is receiving medical attention,” Bagwai assured. “We will ensure justice is served.”
