Ganduje: Lessons from Falgore Forest Can Guide National Security

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has called for military operations to target forests as a strategy to tackle banditry in Nigeria.
Ganduje made the statement during a visit to the Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, to express condolences over the recent tanker explosion that claimed numerous lives in the state.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, Ganduje emphasized the need for proactive measures against criminal elements operating in forested areas across the country.
“The solution to this menace is to conquer the forests. The bandits are in the forest. Why have we been on the defensive instead of being on the offensive?” Ganduje said.
He highlighted his experience as the former governor of Kano State, where the military established a training ground in Falgore Forest, effectively driving out bandits and restoring peace.
Praising Governor Bago’s efforts in maintaining peace in Niger State, Ganduje acknowledged the challenges posed by the state’s vast landmass and numerous forests.
In his response, Governor Bago expressed gratitude for the APC leadership’s support and called on the federal government to address key infrastructural challenges, particularly the Suleja-Minna road, to reduce accidents and enhance safety.
