500K deposit: Man Claps Back at Reuben Abati’s Criticism Following Wife’s Death

  • Nigerian man, who lost his pregnant wife, responded to journalist Reuben Abati’s criticism for not having any savings for her antenatal and delivery expenses.

A Nigerian man who tragically lost his pregnant wife has responded to journalist Reuben Abati’s criticism regarding his lack of savings for his wife’s antenatal and delivery costs.

The man had earlier shared his heartbreaking experience, revealing that his wife passed away after a hospital insisted on a N500K deposit before they could begin her treatment.

In an intense criticism, Reuben Abati condemned the man for what he deemed a failure to responsibly prepare financially for such a crucial event.

However, the grieving man has now clarified that while he had indeed saved money for the delivery, he had not managed to save the full N500K demanded by the hospital.

His response aims to address Abati’s accusation of financial irresponsibility while expressing the devastation of losing his wife under such circumstances.

He said …

“Sir, with due respect this is not my first child. When my wife get belle we dey take care of am to the best of my ability and I never come for public or come meet you sir make you borrow me money or make I take feed my children.

I saved money, but I didn’t save N500K. I saved money for that day but they asked me for N500K deposit, not full payment. All the money wey I fit gather that day e no go pass 100K, I don’t know whether it is an offense if you don’t have up to N500K if your wife wan born. I don’t know if it’s an offense to live below 500K because you’re saying it’s the highest irresponsibility because I no get N500K. So it’s a crime now to be poor in Nigeria….”
