  • 2Baba described the current system as in need of total transformation.

Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has stirred controversy following comments he made about the Nigerian education system on social media.

In a recent Instagram story, the veteran singer called for a complete reform of the country’s educational structure. He described the system as needing a total transformation and suggested a “brain unwashing” to promote fresh perspectives.

Taking his point further, 2Baba proposed the adoption of the name “Alkebulan” — a historic term used for the African continent, believed to mean “mother of mankind” or “Garden of Eden.”

His remarks generated mixed reactions from the public. While some supporters praised him for promoting African heritage and questioning outdated educational norms, others responded with mockery and sarcasm.

Critics also revisited a moment involving his new wife, Honourable Natasha Osawaru, who introduced herself as “nee Idibia” during a session at the Edo State House of Assembly. The incident has since become a source of ridicule among some online users.

Since tying the knot, 2Baba and Natasha have faced continuous scrutiny, with social media users frequently commenting on their public appearances.
